Studio Profile

Debbie Farrand of Dressing Rooms Interior DesignThey say it’s lucky to find your passion early in life. If so, then I have been very fortunate as I have always been fascinated by interiors. As a child, I spent countless hours re-arranging my room, re-painting everything, recovering furniture, and sketching and making new window treatments. I figured the best path to a truly inspired design had to be “hands on,” creatively experimenting with colors, textures, fabrics, and finishes of all kinds.

Debbie Farrand, interior designer at Dressing Rooms, restoring a sculpture.Dressing Rooms follows this same path today. In business now for 28 years, we have transformed living environments for clients all over New England as well as in the Southeast and on the West Coast. Our success has been built with honesty and integrity, one project at a time. I take great pride in the fact that all of our work has come from referrals from previous customers who have experienced first-hand my passion and energy for turning their dreams and ideas into reality.

Experience

My background is extensive in the home furnishings industry. I have been a buyer, merchandise manager, marketer, importer, and business leader for prominent, nationwide chains. Playing a wide range of roles has given me a perspective and foundation that is unique in the field of interior design.

Although we specialize in residential interior design, we have also done work for housing developments, retail environments, yachts, business offices, banks, daycare centers, and more. In all projects, our clients rely on our experience and expertise in every facet of the design:

  • Color selection
  • Decorative finishes
  • Textile design and fabrication
  • Carpet, tile, and flooring
  • Furniture
  • Architectural artifact restoration

That last item holds a special place in my life. I love historic and historically inspired homes. In my studio I maintain an extensive library of salvage and architectural resources that I often incorporate in my interior designs whether they are contemporary, traditional or transitional. Whether it’s reclaiming bricks from an old mill building, finding the perfect use for a 19th-century etched glass door, or restoring an antique tavern table, I always take great satisfaction in re-purposing materials of craftsmanship and character into new settings.

“Listening to her clients, Debbie combines a strong sense of color, design and function with her extensive training, years of experience and genuine appreciation of all things beautiful to create rooms that transform houses into homes.”
